A Business Reset for Entrepreneurs
This past weekend, we turned our clocks back and gained an extra hour.
While most of us probably welcomed that little bit of extra sleep, it also got me thinking:
What if we used this seasonal shift as an opportunity to pause and take inventory of our businesses, our routines, and ourselves?
The holiday season is quickly approaching. Calendars start filling up. Client demands increase. Family commitments grow. Before we rush into the busyness of year-end, it's worth taking a moment to ask:
Is my business still aligned with where I want to go?
Do I still enjoy what I am building here?
Not from a place of criticism or judgment.
Just honest reflection.
Step 1: Reset ~ A Simple Business Health Check
As entrepreneurs, we're often so focused on serving clients and checking things off our to-do lists that we rarely stop long enough to evaluate what's actually working.
Take a few quiet moments and ask yourself:
Are my offers or products still aligned with the impact I want to make?
Are my clients or guests having the experience I want them to have?
Are my prices or packages supporting both sustainability and growth for the business?
Are my systems and processes saving me time or creating more work?
Am I spending my time as the CEO, Founder or am I stuck operating as the intern?
These questions ARE NOT designed to point out what's wrong. (again, no judgement just honest reflection)
They ARE designed to help you RECONNECT with what matters most.
Because when we're intentional, we lead. When we're rushed, we react.
And there's a big difference between the two.
Step 2: Refresh ~ Let Go of What You've Been Carrying
Sometimes growth isn't about adding more.
Sometimes it's about releasing what's weighing us down.
Maybe it's a service you've outgrown.
Maybe it's a difficult client relationship you've been tolerating.
Maybe it's an old belief that says you need to work harder to be successful.
Or maybe it's something much deeper.
Past regrets. Disappointments. Missed opportunities.
Resentments you've been carrying far longer than they deserve.
The truth is, many of us spend energy managing things we no longer want instead of creating the things we truly deserve.
As you move into this next season, ask yourself:
What am I tolerating that no longer aligns with the business and life I'm trying to build?
What am I holding onto that no longer serves me?
What “critical” voice in the back of my head, do I just need to let go to voicemail?
Most of the time, the most productive thing you can do is let go.
Step 3: Rebuild ~ Create a Business That Supports You
Once you have released what you’ve been holding onto and created fresh space, you can BEGIN Rebuilding with intention.
One of the biggest lessons I've learned as a Productivity coach and HR strategist is that structure creates freedom. (a complete oxymoron)
Without a plan, every day feels urgent.
With a plan, you can focus on what matters most.
I often encourage business owners to create themed Business Owner/CEO days throughout the week:
Money Mondays:
Review your numbers, pipeline of potential sales/events, expenses, and goals.
Clarity around your finances helps you make better decisions and move forward with confidence.
Customer Service Tuesdays:
These are the days you focus on client and delivery. Looking for ways to make things “EASY” for your customers.
Focus on giving “WOW” service, delivering exceptional value, and nurturing key relationships. (which include vendors, suppliers and partners, by the way.)
Visibility Wednesdays:
Let’s get out there an MARKET our businesses and Make this part FUN!
This is where you get to share your “brownies”, flowers, anything you are making/creating.
Share your expertise, create content, network, and stay open and visible.
People can't benefit from your work or services if they don't know you exist.
Productive Thursdays:
This personally is my FAVORITE day, where you look at your Systems & Operations (and productive people too)!
Tighten workflows, improve processes, and look for opportunities to simplify.
Small efficiencies add up quickly.
Reflection Fridays:
Take a step back from the day-to-day.
Celebrate wins, assess lessons learned, and identify where you want to focus next.
This week was good, but How can I make next week better?
This kind of rhythm doesn't box you in. It supports you.
It creates space for both productivity and peace of mind.
A Final Thought
Nature has seasons for a reason. There are seasons for growth, seasons for harvest, and seasons for rest and reflection.
Your business deserves the same.
As we head into the final stretch of the year, give yourself permission to slow down long enough to evaluate where you are and where you want to go.
Reset what needs attention.
Refresh what needs releasing.
Rebuild what deserves your energy.
Because success isn't built by constantly doing more. It's built by intentionally focusing on what matters most.
So here's my question for you:
What is one thing you're ready to let go of before the year ends, and one thing you're committed to rebuilding?
I'd love to hear your thoughts. 💛
And if you’d like to spend more time REFLECTING on the questions above, I’ve created a lovely WORKBOOK here, that you can download and use to help you.
